25 LED G4 Light Bulb The quality of the LED bulb is very good. I have had it in service for a couple months so far now. It is still bright and going strong. Run it every day, 12 hours a day. The color is perfect – – looks just like the incandescent that it replaced.Have tried it in several applications with success. This includes outdoor landscape path lamps, indoor clip-on type desk lamps and in the work van dome light. All worked perfect with this bi-pin type bulb.A word – – it will replace a 10 watt halogen bulb with same intensity of light. But it is too dim to replace a 20 watt. But this bulb does do what it is supposed to do – – more.
Dim, blue I bought one of these as a test to replace 10W halogens in the undercabinet lighting in my kitchen. This is much dimmer than the 10W halogens, and has an unpleasantly blue color. The bulb itself is somewhat larger (probably about 50% bigger circumference and maybe slightly longer) than the standard halogens I’m trying to replace, but it did fit in the undercabinet fixtures. All in, not acceptable for my purposes. But if you need a low power LED with this type of base and don’t much care about the light quality, I suppose it might do for some applications.
100% failure rate The light output from these LED’s is good and the color temperature is warmer than most LED’s that claim to be warm white. However I rated this light lower than I normally would for 3 reasons. First, I purchased two of these lights and one was defective out of the box. After being on for less than a minute, 3 of the 25 LED’s failed. After turning it off and letting it cool, they would function again for about another minute before failing again. Second, they burn very hot – almost as hot as the halogen they replaced. I believe this is what led to the failure of one of the bulbs. Third, they are polarity sensitive in a 12 volt DC circuit. At first I thought the bulb was an out of box failure but had the foresight to turn the bulb around in the socket. It then worked. I like the amount of light and temperature but dislike the heat generated and percentage of failures.ADDENDUM: 5 days after installing the 2nd of the two bulbs I purchased, the bulb has failed. 5 of the 25 LED’s failed. If I tap on the bulb, it will relight for about 10 seconds and then fail again. I believe this is due to the heat generated by these LED lights. Bottom line – 100% failure on the 2 bulbs purchased.
