Good style but cheap quality We ordered this gazebo because we wanted something to put over our hot tub for full privacy. Thus we needed both the mosquito netting and privacy shades. This was the only product on Amazon having both. It looked good, had nice neutral colors, so we ordered it. Took 2 construction-savvy men to set it up. It wasn’t something I could’ve done with my husband alone. It looks really nice and has all the features we wanted but the material that the frame is made out of is cheap. Considering it was about $350 we expected a more solid frame. We’ve had it set up for about a week and it rained a bit this past week. The rain creates water pockets on the top of the canopy and one led to one of the poles of the frames bending. We’ve contacted the seller to see about getting a replacemement frame. We’ll see how that goes. I do like the look and functionality of this but it’s not feasible to take the cover off every time it rains and if we continue to get these water pockets, my fear is that all the frames will eventually bend and then break. Today we put some small holes thru the canopy flap and used wire ties to more solidly attach the canopy flaps to the frame hoping this will allow the water to roll off and stop creating these water pockets. I hope it works because I really want the privacy when in my hot tub and this is the perfect size, height, coloring, and like i said, has both the mosquito netting and privacy shades. I’ll write more when I see what happens…
Great Gazebo For the Price For the money you cannot beat this gazebo. As long as you read what the seller says about it and follow instructions properly, it will be a great purchase.Unit was purchased in April of 2011. The top is waterproof and provides great shelter from rain. Rain will not built up in the corners of the top if it is secured properly to the frame. It must be secured as tight as you can get it and water will not built up. I did not have it tight when I first put it up and water did built in the corners that I had to push off. Once I tightened the top water rolled off and never built up again.The frame is strong and is of much better quality then what you would find with similar priced models in stores such as Home Depot. Frame went through the hurricane we had here in the Northeast last year and it barely moved. It has also been through some heavy wind with the top on (top was removed during hurricane) and is still standing strong. There is some surface rust from the frame being up for 8 months as that is expected.The sides provide good privacy and are also waterproof. Misqutoe netting does work well although some do get through. Almost impossible to avoid that unless area is completely sealed off from bugs. Overall setup stands up well to weather. As of this review in January of 2012, the top is still on my gazebo. It is ripping and I do need a replacement top. But overall usage has been great for the past 8 months and has held up well through spring, summer, fall, and now winter. It cannot support snow and is not designed for that. It is best to remove the top if left up during the winter and for snow.As the seller clearly states, it does take two people to set this up. These gazebos cannot be setup by one person. Just follow the instructions and you will have it setup within 3 hours. I plan to replace the top and reuse the sides as they were taken down for the winter. I expect at least 2 more years of use from this gazebo. For only $250, this is a great setup with good value that will have long life if taken care of, setup and used properly.
