lights in a tube Lights in a tube! what else is there, really? These seem to be a good quality rope light, very bright, and fairly consistently bright throughout the whole length of the product (which turned out to be just over 50 feet, probably about 53-54 feet not including the power apparatus). overall, very satisfied with the build quality and the lighting quality. As noted, the cool white is excellent for reading and high-contrast environments. I have this mounted on molding about 8 inches from the ceiling (which is 8 foot), and it fully lights the room without any trouble whatsoever. this particular color temperature is excellent for lighting in a computer room or somewhere you might be looking to neutralize the retina burning glow of ultra high contract LCD monitors and dont require absolute darkness (or if you prefer a lighted area and hate cool white CFL bulbs, which are just horribly blue tinted.)minus one star for the mounting clip design. it might be sufficient for sheetrock walls, but its a PITA for plaster with years and years of paint layers. the included screws are short and the threading is too shallow to grip when screwed in. I ended up making pilot holes using a nail and hammer, then hammering these screws in to prevent them from stripping their own holes. I suppose that may be a problem with my walls more than the design, so i digress.the clips themselves are just OK. them seem to be made of a type of plastic that will become brittle over a period of time.on the plus side, they do give you 50 clips, 50 screws, and a handful of frosted color zipties.last thing to note: if you are nitpicky, it is worth mentioning that you can see the additional non-LED components inside of the tubing from a fair distance indoors. this may bug some people. get a colored or frosted tube version if thats your deal.
works great for under the rail deck lighting These lights are a lot brighter than I thought they would be but not overpowering….lights up a good 20-25 feet. You need to get the half inch cable clips though because the clips provided will crack and break over time. Make sure you get short wood screws that have a big enough head so they dont’t go through your terminal clip holes. Just compare the screw head to one of the terminal clips throught the package to check the sizing. The half inch cable clips are a little loose to the rope, but that is good, so you can pull the rope taught through. When you really want to clamp it down tight at the corners, use two screws…adjusting the outer clip hole up snug against the rope light. You will love these lights, I got two 25 foot lengths and they are all nice and bright….I got the plain white ones and mounted them just under my top cap on the inside of the deck and connected it to a timer. It also lights up the house with a soft light that looks really cool.
Lights work fine. What can you say about a system that works the way it is supposed to? Effective.
