Poorly made and does not performed as advertised. I bought this item on May 18th and tried to either return it or get it replaced on July 16th after about 75 of the bulbs in the light had stopped working. The seller refused my request saying that “we don’t offer warranty for light, if you like we can send you a few splice connector to fix the issue. you have to cut the non working part out and connect it. due to that is not water resistant.” The product description clearly states “The rope is UV resistance and waterproof.” I again tried to contact the seller about this defective product, but the seller did not reply. From my experience, I find this rope light to be made from a brittle plastic that is not waterproof even though the product is advertised as waterproof. Rain appeared to seep into the rope within its first month of use causing many of the bulbs to short out and not work.
Better quality than I expected I was expecting these lights to be cheap in quality; I’ve bought overseas stuff like this before, and been unimpressed. While these lights were not of outstanding quality, they were better than I expected with regard to materials used, accessories included, and instructions included. It comes with a 4 page instruction manual written in broken English, which made us laugh with the English-isms it used. Also, it came with clips to fasten the rope to the structure. I was not expecting these. One problem with the clips is that they have two small holes. I tried buying appropriately sized nails, but I could not hit the nails in because I would eventually hit the clip and shatter it. I also tried a palm nailer, which shattered the clip. Eventually, I enlarged the hole, and used a screw. The lights are bright, and a little “warmer” than I expected. Our house is painted yellow, and we used them to illuminate a covered porch. In the end, the light had a “street light” effect, when we were more expecting a “romantic mood.” There are two reasons for this: 1) They were yellower than I expected – maybe I should have gotten white? 2) They were brighter than I expected. Other reviews said they were bright – I should have known. The lights also come with some additional connectors in case you want to cut them and make “T” sections. It does not come with another AC/DC adapter – so you can only make one rope unless you want to buy another AC/DC adapter. The adapter is the size of a chicken McNugget – quite small, and in-line with the cord, making it easy to hide. I was quite pleased with the lights. They could be a little better, but overall, I’m quite pleased!
