Poor quality. Lasted 3 months. We bought this pergola late summer 2011. It was difficult to put together and I put a lot of things together so I’m not inexperienced. We were missing a couple small parts, but Customer Service was quick to get them to us. Unfortunately it collapsed last November – twice – just 3 months after it was put up. The first time the whole things slide across our new stamped patio and stopped when it reached the garden bed. Since it couldn’t go any further, the wind (only 15 mph mind you) caused the whole the whole thing to bend over on two of the legs. I was shocked not only that it bent, but that it was light enough to even move (quality?). I was able to straighten out the two bent bases and anchored it, but then it blew over again and bent all four.So I called Customer Service this spring to let them know. Their response was “No as acts of nature are not covered”. To me, acts of nature should be tornadoes – not 15 mph winds because that happens all the time. I sent them the pictures of how bent up everyone was and in fact it bent over in my garden. They would not stand behind their product.I refused to buy the replacement parts or have them welded locally since it will just bend again the next time the wind blows. Now I’m forced to build wood based just to fit the remaining top portion.This is the first time I’ve ever posted a negative review on a product, but I just couldn’t let someone else buy this junk. I read product Reviews extensively so I hope this is helpful to you. Not only does it put a bad name on this company, but the retailers who carry the product as well and I love buying from Amazon (so much I bought their Premier membership). Buy from Amazon – just not this pergola.
faulty parts We purchased this pergola last year. The slide wheels which operate the canopy are very prone to breakage, becoming very brittle. We have been trying to purchase new slide wheels to fix this problem for over a month. Home Decorators has assured us that they will speak to the manufacturer to obtain these parts but have not resolved this issue or returned phone calls as promised. Without the slide wheels the canopy is inoperable and cannot be attached in any other way. We recommend saving your money and to purchase a better product from a reliable company that honors its’ customer support promises.
