Quility light I got this for my stair way about a year ago. This has a few setting.20 seconds onor60 seconds onandambiance light onorambiant light offotherwise, it will only turn on in the dark, it know when there is daylight present.I set the amiant light on, so at night you can see the stairs from a distance, and wen you get close to it, like a few feet the main light gets to full streangth. This light works so well with no maintence required. Just set it and forget it. I put mine on the steps at the center landing. Works like a charm. After a year, i figured I’d buy them for my closet. So I bought 2 more from Sears @$19.99 each. i hung them ontop of the inside of my closet, so when I open the door it will light up and turn off automatically. Well, the motion sensor points at an angle where it does not sence the door opening, so I have to wave my hand accross it. Not the end of the world, and it beats pressing a light on and off. Cause if you forget to shut off a standard light, it will stay on forever, wasting the batteries. this one shuts off automatically no matter what.It says its good for indoor or out, but I have never used it outdoors. It uses two C batteries, and I never had to replace it, it’s been at least a year now.The light strength is good, not over powering. I would say just under a 40 watt bulb. maybe 28ish watts, i’m guessing. This is a high quility device and you are paying for it. It works well, I highly reccomend it.
Motion sensor light Bought four of these. Two for each end of a very dark staircase. After testing, I finally installed them about knee-height on the side with the railing. In addition, they were installed on the first step going up and the first step going down — this give maximum lighting with the least shadow just as you go up or go down. The other two are in rooms where it’s handy to have a light go on when your hands are full and you don’t want to have to go turn on a light by hand.I have a alkaline battery charger so new batteries don’t have to be purchased (I usually get about 6 good charges).I’ve only had the units a couple of weeks, so I can’t say how long they will last. The lights freaked out the cats at first — now they just stare wondering who’s turning on the light every time they pass — the motion detector is that sensitive.
