I have 3 strands now…all work great, but there are some tricks I recently bought one strand of these in blue and put it around a bridge that goes over a stream in my backyard. It works wonderfully and I liked it so much I bought two more for a trellis that goes around and over my deck for the grapevines to grow around. Here are some tricks that make it work great: First, peel off the plastic clear cover over the solar light. This is there only to protect the glass of the light during shipping. If you leave it on, sunlight can’t get to it well enough to charge it.There is a knob on the back that you turn to turn this on, off, or flashing but if you just try to move it, it will seem like it’s moving and won’t so you may think it broken. You need to REMOVE this rubbery knob, then turn the switch on under it, then put it back on. It’s there to keep it waterproof but you have to turn the switch on to make this work.I’m one of the people who reads all directions but I could see these being an issue if you don’t and people wondering why they don’t work.It lights up really bright and nicely and mine were not light blue…they do look white…although I did buy the light blue strand for my bridge. These are great lights for year round but during the holidays, just turn the knob to “flashing” and you have instant holiday lights already up!They turn on and off automatically each night…you can’t beat that and I couldn’t find a cheaper strand for this many lights and this long of a strand anywhere else.
Copper Wire Solar Lights These are great lights and work just as advertized. I have two sets.Set one is outdoors and works great after 6 weeks use. It has rained and we’ve had two solid freezes with no ill effects.Set two; My cat chewed through or an earthquake snapped the wire connecting the lights to the solar panel of the second set. Fortunately the wires are copper and were really easy to splice back together after snipping the frayed ends. The fact that they snapped or were chewed through does not bode well for the long term durability of the light strand but the quick and easy repair redeemed that flaw. They work great now that they have been repaired. The lights are soft and look like stars instead of glaring headlights. They do not light up a porch or sidewalk, instead they cast something like a swath of moonlight, and work quite well as accent lighting.
