Melted after use I was planning to use the rope lights coiled around an object to make an orange Portal (from the Portal video game). However, after coiling these lights and leaving them on for a few hours, the plastic began to melt. I also had some blue rope light from a different vendor and never had any issues. The orange plastic around the lights was flimsy material and the lights themselves were too hot. I would not recommend these rope lights unless you are planning to leave them on briefly and I would NOT coil these lights as they run too hot for this.
Great product, not so great color I bought a set of these “orange” “Halloween ” lights to run along the top of the fence in my front yard in addition to 2 sets of the purple. I was very happy with the packaging the lights came in, no risk of them being crushed during shipment, and the plastic case they come in can easily be reused to store the lights in for next year. I was also very happy with how easy it is to connect the sets end to end, the plug comes off and the ends twist lock right together.My reason for giving the lights only 3 stars is the color. They are clearly advertised as being “Halloween” lights but they are not a virbrant orange like other Halloween lights I have purchased or those I see on my neighbors houses. They are more of a pastel yellow-orange. My husband keeps telling me I mistakingly bought Easter lights. So overall 3 stars.
