No more fiddling with hard-to-interpret pole assemblies or poorly designed attachment systems. More importantly, the canopy comes with four built-in ultra-bright LED fixtures at the top of the shelter. With light emanating out from the ceiling, you can dine at dusk with full overhead illumination and dance after dark without bringing out multiple lanterns. The light system even comes with a convenient dimmer switch, so you can choose low-light ambience all the way up to bright task lighting. The lighting system operates on four D batteries (sold separately), but is also compatible with Coleman’s CPX 6 battery power system.
The canopy is sturdily constructed, with a 28mm steel frame and a tough cover that’s made using UVGuard fabric, which provides a superior 50+ ultraviolet protection factor. And Coleman added pinch-free Comfort Grips to the frame, so you can protect your fingers during setup and takedown. Just a single squeeze locks or releases the frame for fast setup or teardown. The Instant Canopy offers 10 feet by 10 feet of shade and a center height of 9 feet 4 inches.
About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a “no light, no pay” clause–a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked–and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.
In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company’s current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. Top Of The Line Shelter This shelter takes tailgating to a different level.The shelter is pretty easy to put up. It takes two people to raise it (in a pinch I have managed to put this up myself, but it was a struggle). There’s not really a lot to say about this shelter. Compared to the other brands I’ve seen around our football tailgating, this is the nicest shelter. The shelter cover is waterproof not letting any ran in. Given the large size, it’s pretty easy to get out of any rain.There is a single solid wall included that provides great shelter from wind or rain. There are four guy wires with stakes to add stability in wind. The legs have a nice system of latches to raise and lower the legs. The shelter raises up to over six feet, there is plenty of head room for everyone to stand straight up under the canopy. Each leg has a tab to stake down the end of the leg.As an option, there is a four wall screen that can be added, essentially making it a bug free shelter ().We’ve gotten a table, four chairs, a couple of coolers, and room for six people to hang out. This is a large shelter and kind of pushes the envelope of a single parking space. I really like this shelter; it has served us well even in some pretty strong winds.
Love it! I’ve owned about 4 canopies before this one, & I’ve noticed how through the years, the companies get smarter, making significant improvements. This canopy is, by far, the top of the line. I have to say that any canopy is quite difficult to put up or take down if you don’t know what you’re doing. With my first canopy, I didn’t know how to take it down the correct way & I completely screwed up the entire frame. You need to be careful & read the instructions.Once I became an avid canopy user, I thought I needed to step up my game, which is why I bought this Coleman canopy. I go camping every year & I can see this canopy being the highLIGHT of my next camping trip! I love the dimmer effect. And the LED lights do not attract the bugs like a standard lantern would.I go camping this summer, & without fail, it will rain! It always does. I will update my review after I see whether this canopy can hold up to Catskills Mountain rain. So far it’s fine in sunny/slightly windy conditions.This canopy is a little pricey compared to others, but I haven’t seen too many with the LEDs built in. It’s worth it for the convenience factor. I waited until I got a gift card to Amazon before I pulled the trigger on buying this one. I wish this canopy came with the extra wall because it makes a big difference in the wind & rain, but it doesn’t. That will have to be a separate purchase when camping time comes around. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the purchase!
Doesn’t come with solid wall Nice canopy, seems well made compared with the cheaper brands I’ve seen in the stores. Straight legs mean you get the full 100 sqft of cover from the 10 x 10 footprint and lighting system is more than adequte.Unlike the other review above the canopy doesn’t come with a single solid wall, but the bug-screen walls can be purchased elsewhere.
