Great Product – Doubling of Price SUCKS! This item was $9.99 in April but $19.99 when I went back to purchase another. I would have bought more. I am no longer promoting the value of the item to our scout troops – lost my word of mouth recommendation because of the doubling of price.Really?
Great price / great product I have seen these selling at some sporting goods stores for 10-15 bucks above this price (Bought here for 10 bucks) (or more) You get the flashlight (good useable flashlight) an S.O.S. feature, not just a strobe or flasher but the international S.O.S. signal (nice touch) and 2 modes of area or lantern light. High is good enough for a tent or small campsite area (nice diffused/soft light and enough so you wont trip over anything) and the low lantern mode (50% of high) which is enough for up close or a one man tent. (Will probably be better once fully charged*. I am basing my observations on it right out of the box. I put it on USB charging for an hour and the indicator still shows it charging. Probably did not have a full charge when received) USB charging means you can have it at full power before going out then use the solar later if needed. (Box reads “Charge via USB for optimum use”) Slightly larger than a deck of cards, this is a great addition to any outdoor/emergency bag. Nice clip for hanging. Almost bought one at the store awhile back. For “their” price I can get 2 here at Amazon. Definitely a should have for an emergency or as a back up.Other variables:Will charge a phone if connections are the same, only 1 configuration (not a choice of adapters) took 1 and a half hrs to drain unit completely into a totally dead phone (charged phone to one bar only out of 3 bars) Phone useable in an emergency/short while. (did not purchase for this reason so no deduction in stars and this feature would work in an emergency just not efficient for regular use)Just under 4 7/8″ long x 2 3/4″ wide x 3/4″ thickClaims 100 lm flashlight and 100 lm lantern (Really closer to 1/2 that for flashlight and about 1/3 that for lantern out of the box which is good for most units like this and most applications anyways) You want more power check out a different unit.Ports exposed, no cover over connections. Not dust/weatherproof. Recommendation: buy a waterproof bag if using outdoors.Switch kind of easy to activate, did it twice by accident putting in my pocket, be careful if putting in a pocket/gear bag*Charging now will update………….Fully charged (by USB) about 10-15% more than stated above. Fully charged from drained (by USB) 2-3 hrs.Have not charged by solar. Past experience with solar ones like these you can expect 30%-65% (instructions say up to 80%) from solar of what you would get via USB, Charging time by solar stated as 8-10 hrs direct sunlight.##################################################################################################################Update, got about 60-65% brightness from charging solar, though run time is about 50% (From full USB charge)
excellent camping light I use this for camping and it works great, does as exactly as you expect and unlike some lights it has different settings which makes it really useful.
