Worked great for me! Location matters. I have the neighbor’s cats that use the area under my master bedroom window for their own personal litter box.. It drives me crazy! I put one of these on a 3 foot post under my window and no droppings. The whole wall is now protected. I know it works because the cats now use the other wall that is out of range of the first repeller. Now I bought another one for that wall. It can’t come soon enough.Location matters. I first had the unit on a fence in the backyard. It was not proteced by rain or sun. It did not work well there and made a loud noice. Under my window it is protected from the rain and the sun and it work perfectly.Be sure you have it at least 3 feet off the ground and use quality batteries.Pros:Inexpensive and it works to keep cats away!Cons:Uses a lot of batteries. (6 C batteries)
Worked for a year and started making noise After a year I have the audible high-pitched sound on mine too and it now makes the device too noisy to operate. I think it has to do with a moisture problems in the unit that occurs after being outdoors in the elements. I looked inside the unit and aside from rust on the battery plates, nothing seems visually degraded. It would be really nice if I could order parts to repair the unit (I’m a techie though). Due to the initial success I am seeking to buy another one, it might be this one, but I’m not sure.Over the last year this animal repeller worked quite well at keeping the mischievous raccoons out of the yard. I bought another one and gave it to a friend with a deer problem as she lives next to parkland and it’s hard to tell about the deer that haven’t been around as much, but she did say the rats haven’t been around her front porch anymore.I don’t know how the batteries died in such a short time in the unit Canada, the ones in ours lasted at least 6 months, if not more (perhaps a year?). I’m wondering if keeping the unit out of the rain might help.
works for us We have an outdoor fishpond and have had problems with raccoons through the years. We can successfully trap them but now that animal control will no longer pick them up, we had to come up with a different solution. I did not expect this device to work, but we’ve had no raccoons since we set it up near the pond one year ago. We do bring ours into our covered patio area when rain is expected, and we had to change batteries after about 6 months. It’s easy to tell if new ones are needed if the red light doesn’t turn on when you push the button. By the way, a big dog also works well, but we are dog less now that we travel more.
