Simple and affordable We recently did some remodeling in our kitchen, and found the need to have another light switch on the other side of the room. I did some rough estimates at the hassle involved in running a conventional 3 way switch which would have involved tearing up the floor in my attic, and fishing wires down the wall. Not to mention disturbing the old existing wiring which is always a pleasure.I stumbled across this unit randomly while searching for lighting solutions.Installation took less than an hour. I replaced two standard dimmer switches with two of these switches. Set up and programming was super easy.It took the switches a few minutes to “initialize” or whatever that means. When I first tried them, the lights would only blink slowly. While I was researching online what was going on, the system apparently figured itself out.Well worth the price if you are looking to add a second switch, and the units appear well made.2011 updateI still have these switches installed. I bought some dimmable CFLs to see how they would work. My light fixtures are recessed spot lights. With a dimmable CFL in the fixture the switches would not turn the lights on. Just food for thought when incandescent bulbs go away.
buyer beware … needs more transmitting power. Prior to buying this item I read that the transmitter was able to turn on the device from a satisfing distance but would not turn off the switch at the same distance. well my experience was similar. it will turn off the switch at a good distance but it does not turn on the switch unless i am within inchs of the receiver. so beware it might happen to you too if you buy this.
I love these I have these in my home, i bought them seperate, since i had the remote from previous sensor and when i bought the swich to control over head lights. first, you’re not going to use CFL with these, dimmable or not. Read up on the technoligies, dimmable CFLs need special dimmers that control them differently then incandent light can be. second you need either a ground or a nuetral/hot in the box, my house is pre-grounds my outlets are retro-ed but my lights were still 2 wire. I had to run a new wire to the lights. the green wire can be attached to a nuetral, you’ll void your warenty, but thes are pretty awesome. the yellow wire need to be outside of the electrical box. and as straight as possible. or you won’t get good signal. i love the heth zeinth line or products i’ve use them for many years and my original stuff is still working. Beat that.
