Easy To Install, Looks and Works Great! I had originally bought the “Heath Zenith SL-5512-BZ 300-Watt Quartz Halogen Motion-Sensing Twin Security Light” here from Amazon. These particular lights had a defect, in that, if any other motor (like a ceiling fan or garage door opener) was on the same circuit, the light would never turn off. This is because they have two automatic output power levels. So, before even installing them, I returned them. But, I loved the features offered on that light, like the fact that there are 3 sensitivity levels, and 4 timer settings (on,1,5,10 min), and an override feature activated by hitting the switch up and down to leave the light on and automatically reset to normal the next day.Due to the issues I had with the first light I purchased, I learned that most (if not all), of the Heath Zenith lights have these features. So, I decided on this light. Mostly based on price since it was the cheapest I could find. But, to save me (and Amazon) any more pain, I purchased these at Home Depot for more money, so that I could easily return them if there were any issues. I am pleased to say that they work perfectly.I put three of these units up, they were easy to install, they look fantastic, and they work great. They look kind of small compared to other porch lights, but to be honest, I think they look better that way. I’m using clear 60w ceiling fan bulbs, and they really look great. Besides having an automatic light for when I come home in the dark, I also need good lighting for snow removal at night. These are nice and bright. I have them on medium sensitivity for 1 minute and all three perform perfectly for me. I highly recommend these lights.Besides, for the price, you get both a good looking light along with motion and night sensing. I previously paid over $35 each for three motion adapters which I used to control my old light fixtures. I just threw them all out. So, you do the math!
Okay for a side door The light is fairly easy to install (read instructions) and decorative. It is smaller than most people would want for a front door, but works well on the side or rear; which is where I put mine. The maximum bulb rating on this one is only 60 watts, where others will go up to 100w. The panes are glass, and the design is a separate metal overlay. When mine arrived (Warehouse Deals/Used-like new) the front glass was broken. If you’re gonna get one, buy it new, as even the manufacturer can’t send you a replacement pane. It’s an odd size, too, (4.25″ x 3.5″) so it will be difficult to replace. Other reviewers are correct; the “high” motion setting does seem to ping on everything (including the bugs that will be attracted to it). The bottom is open, which makes changing the bulb a breeze. Overall, I’ve installed seven Heath/Zenith/HeathCo lights, and none of them have failed to work properly. If you’re looking for a more ornate or functional, look for the sconces that say they have dual-brite and bulb-saver technologies. I have three of those, and they are ‘da bomb’ as far as security lights go.
porch light bought this to light up a screened-in porch.it replaced an old fixture to provide light when entering at night.the old fixture only had 2 wires ( white and black ) and it was mounted directly on the clapboard siding.this new light is wired for code and made for mounting in a junction box.despite this was still able to mount the new light in the same manner however the wire nuts were large and ended up using the smaller. original ones.when climbing the back stairs it takes the sensor a couple seconds to detect movement , but this is due to the porch screening.it’s a good value, nice looking and actually saved $5 by ordering on-line as opposed to buying it at the local big box home center.it will live in a enclosed porch so can’t speak to it’s ability to stand up to the elements, but in the last 2 months it has done it’s job very nicely.
