Serviceable Once assembled, this is a nice unit. It’s a bit light weight and moves fairly easily when empty (good for adjusting the position), but with a folded lawn mower and some filled (3rd party) shelves inside it shouldn’t go anywhere in the wind, especially if it’s near a wall or fence. And it looks nice.[Update: This has survived a freak storm from the Midwest that resembled a hurricane and knocked out the power for five days, and it didn’t move an inch.]The problem is in the assembly, which was a royal pain. Though they claim that it can be assembled using just a philips screwdriver, and their video makes it look exceptionally easy, I had to use more than one other tool, and nothing (NOTHING) snapped together the way they claim. The other tools I used were as follows:1) A pair of straight pliers to turn the large plastic thumb screws that you can supposedly turn by hand. Not if you want them to be tight.2) A rubber mallet to seat the side pieces firmly in the slots and especially to drive the leading edge of the roof panels into the center slot and to drive the opposite ends into the recess.3) A hammer and a nail to make a small indentation to allow the “self tapping” screws to bite into the plastic where they are used to hold on the metal door strip and the roof.4) A flat screwdriver to drive a couple of replacement slotted (-) screws to hold the roof on in the center of the back. You cannot get to the screws vertically and we all know what Philips screwdrivers do when you don’t hold them parallel to the screw. They slip out and start to strip the (+) notch.Generally, the parts were not precisely manufactured. There were numerous stray pieces of injection molded material that had oozed out and had not been removed. The roof panels, especially, were sloppily made and did not fit well into the recesses. And finally, the instructions were not even up to IKEA standards, with extremely sparse written instructions and the pictures small and hard to see. On more than one occasion I had to look really closely at the drawing and ended up taking my best guess as to what it showed. The roof was particularly annoying, being as the method of insertion, first horizontally at the ridge line and then vertically at the edges, was not illustrated. All this being said, it’s a fairly solid unit at a fair price. Would I recommend it to a friend? Perhaps, if they didn’t mind a bit of annoyance. Would I recommend it to an enemy? Definitely!
A pain to put together but great once its done. All the pieces are molded plastic, but the floor in particular had certain grooves that were factory cut but not in a proper fashion, meaning thin pieces of plastic were still connected that should not have been there. It took about an hour for me to figure out that this is what was wrong with setting the walls into the floor. You WILL need straight pliers since the bolts that attach the walls to roof and floor can only be turned so far by hand. You will need a phillips head screwdriver, the length doesnt matter but the four main pieces that attack the main roof beam are heard to reach based on the angle so I used a short screwdriver for those four. All in all this took about four hours with two people. It only weighs 166 lbs so it wasnt hard to assemble it in one area and then move it afterwards.I has a LOT of space inside and the night after I built and filled it there was several hours of heavy rain. The next morning I opened it up and not a drop of water on the inside, not on the floor or walls or anywhere. So its good that this unit is rainproof. All in all the assembly was painstaking but the product is good and worth the price.
