Very cool 3rd update:Finally with my 4th order trying to get a second set of lights, I received the correct package (gel coated, 8mm, white background, RGB light strip, controller, and 12v power supply). Amazon told me they checked on the supply in the warehouse for the prime option that is available. Bravo guys! Now I have a real waterproof LED strip. The brand was Taotronics (Not CBconcept Design brand), but it’s fine with me as it meets the specs of the brand that is advertised.2nd update:Note: The real CBconcept brand waterproof lights have an AC1 stamp which means that the waterproofing material is Acrylic Acid Elasticitive Waterproof Coating. NOT a cheap plastic sleeve over cheap lights. Picture of the real cbconcept brand lights: […]Real Specifications: Long life span: 50,000+ hours SMD type: 5050(Tri-chip); LED Quantity: 150 LEDs/5 Meter Brightness/m: 350 lumen; Input volts: DC 12V; Current: 2.0A length: 5 meters(16.4Ft); Thickness: 2mm; width: 8mm;<--------------------------Note this IP 67 waterproof <---------------------------Note this 100% Brand New 3M Adhesive sticky backing for secure and easy applicationIP67 = NEMA "electrical device" with IP rating of 6 = Protection against powerful water jets (12.5mm nozzle) against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. Test duration: at least 3 minutes with Water volume: 100 liters per minute and Pressure: 100 kN/m² at distance of 3m.Amazon has been notified this is counterfeit and will email me when the supply is back to top quality. The third set I received from a different vendor sent me just the counterfeit lights and controller/remote kit and was missing the 12 volt supply. The lights were NOT CBconcept Design brand. The last three have been cheap $20 lights inside of a hollow plastic sheath or not waterproof at all. So if you need to cut to size or the caps on the end of the sheath loose their seal the whole strip is toast. CBconcept Design brand light strips are dipped/molded into rubber so each light is completely sealed and any section size you want is sealed until you trim back the coating to solder it. These counterfeits would be horrible for a car or boat. What is going on Amazon? CBconcept Design brand lights deserve 5 OUT OF 5 STARS, but this product point of purchase/ option deserves a warning to all who think about buying this thus the lowest score possible so people read the warning. The third set of bad incomplete and wrong lights came from LEDwholesalers.1st UPDATE: I wanted a second set of these lights. Today is now the second time I received the wrong items from this company (Sunvalley via my prime account purchase). The lights were not CBconcept brand, were not waterproof, had no controller, no power supply, and no remote, Hopefully they fix the glitch and send me the correct stuff, then I can take off this warning.Original Post:I showed my neighbor this cool lighting bc I liked it so much, it's awesome, so overall I would recommend it. I have it in my boat so I can run green with the underwater fishing lights and then I can see tackle and stuff easily, and white when I need to see stuff really well. 4 feet of it seems comparable to my TV displaying a white screen, but I did not compare them closely last night, that's just an after thought. I wired the controller to a main power switch so I don't have to use the remote if I want to keep it the same color every time I turn on the deck lights.Pros I found after a lot of research:Changes color vs having to install 4 light strips total with 4 stripsNew version of LEDs that has a better energy efficiency vs the old bulb style-5050 SMD is 3x brighter with larger bulbs than 3528 SMD-The controller runs off the 12volt side so it can hook up to boat, RV, 12v landscape lighting, etc, without the 120v power supply and have full functionality.-Can cut/connect every 3rd LED but you have to add solder or use a connector as with most RGB (red green blue, to get all color options) 5050 strips. As usual it has solder joints every foot for soldering.-Power could be on for days and not affect my two boat batteries. Only 2 amps for the whole strip!-Cheap controllers and remotes can be found everywhere-Universally found products I did not know about until tonight when I started looking; even music box regulators that change the lights to the music.-12 Volts is safe-power supply to test soldering as you go.Cons:- Remote was spotty at a distance of 30 to 40 feet as expected, but I plan to mount the remote on velcro next to the sensor as a light-switch type setup.FYI If you want multiple sections spliced together instead of one long strip and you don't want to solder the ends, the strip...
Excellent add-on interior lighting The product is an excellent option for interior lighting. I used it on my Ranger boat for indirect floor lighting. It is fantastic with the color options and dimmer feature. When night fishing one can use the red to protect night vision with the blue or green for general use. If you get an urge you can mix it up with the fade or strobe options. In two words “WAY COOL”. If you cannot wire this you should not even try and change your own light bulbs.
