BETTER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE WHEN I ORDERED THIS THERE WERE NO REVIEWS TO ASSESS THE PRODUCT. WHEN THE ORDER SHIPPED, SOMEONE POSTED THAT THE CANOPY WAS NOT WATERPROOF. I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO READ THAT BUT IT WAS TOO LATE TO CANCEL THE ORDER. HOWEVER, WHEN I RECEIVED IT I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT THE OVERALL LOOK. THE QUALITY IS WHAT I EXPECTED FOR THE PRICE BUT THE TRUE TEST WAS THAT MY CANOPY WAS, IN FACT, WATERPROOF. I WAS CAUGHT IN THE RAIN UNDER IT AND IT HELD UP BEAUTIFULLY.
Stood up to Hurricane Irene, catastrophic failure two months later ****UPDATE**** The packaging says it, the product description says it, and I can’t stress it enough. This isn’t even a semipermanent structure. This is a temporary structure, to be taken down after use. I live on a very windy installation, and a couple of days of 15 to 20 mph winds and this poor baby was done for. The primary complaint I have is that when the wind picked it up and flipped it, the metal cracked and broke due to a significant amount of rust. Having the sun shade up for less than a full season, I didn’t anticipate rust building so quickly or so deeply into the metal. Other than the TEMPORARY nature of the shelter, the rest of the following review stands.****END OF UPDATE****I put this baby up last week in about an hour, by myself. The only issue with the instructions is that the plastic joint pieces are a little hard to see in the diagram, but once you realize what the intent is in the diagram, the orientation of the pieces is very intuitive. The canopy is water resistant, not waterproof, but that only means that the fabric has to be completely saturated by hours of water before it begins to drip through. There are grommets periodically spaced on the fabric, too, to prevent the wind from tearing the fabric, and water can obviously come through those, but they are conveniently placed and allow for plenty of rain cover. The mosquito netting is effective, too, suspended from the gazebo like a shower curtain so that sliding it open is easy. Elastic tie downs hold the netting open, and there’s even netting between the canopy topper and the roof.Great product, I’m more than happy with it. I was a little concerned about the quality I’d be getting for one of the cheaper gazebos on the market, but it stood the test of Hurricane Irene, ****REDACTED**** and I think it’ll be up for a while. ****END OF REDACTION****
Sturdy, waterproof I just put this Gazebo up yesterday and today it’s poured rain all day. Of course, the rain filters in through the mosquito netting if it comes down on an angle, but I am happy to report the the center is bone dry. Turns out that the canopy is in fact water proof. My only complaint is that the instructions for the mosquito netting are vague, so I just hung it on the inside, but now it looks to me that it should go on the outside of the poles and under the long corner flaps. That would make it tight and help to hold it square on windy days. Over all I am very pleased.
