How does it work?
During the day the MicroSolar SP1 Spotlight’s 1 watt solar panel charges its internal 1500 mAh Lithium Ion battery giving it the power it needs to activate after dark.
After dark, the SP1 will activate as soon as it detects darkness. At dawn, the SP1 stops activating and starts charging again, preparing for the night ahead.
How do I install it?
Find the best location for your solar panel within 5 meters of where you plan to have the spotlight. The location needs to be as SOUTH facing as possible and free from light obstructions such as buildings, trees, fences, bushes or the shadows that these create.
1. Position solar panel in desired location
2. Face the panel to the SOUTH, and adjust the angle between the panel surface and horizon.
3. Position the light in desired location.
4. Connect solar panel cable to the light.
How waterproof is it?
The SP1 Solar Security Light is IP55 rated. Waterproofing is rated by the IP (International Protection) system which consists of the letters “IP” followed by two digits. The first digit after IP ranks a products protection against solid objects. The second digit after the IP rates a products ability to protect against liquids. The SP1 Solar Spotlight is IP55 rated. IP55 means the light is protected against dust – limited ingress (no harmful deposit) and protected against strong jets of water e.g. for use on ship decks – limited ingress permitted.

The charge on a good sun filled day will last all night If you are looking for a warm light and not one of the ice blue lights to light up something this is it on the side of your house or even just subtle lighting for around the yard this is the light you have been looking for.The charge on a good sun filled day will last all night. The light itself I would put around the 4000k temperature. If you want something brighter it looks like they do have a 1 lumen version. I decided on the 0.5 lumen as we weren’t trying…
