Pretty good cable connector for (1) 12G, (1) 16G, and (1) 18G wire I emailed the factory and found out they changed the design in the beginning of 2011. Most reviews before that will be speaking about a different item. When installing outdoor lighting, you usually have one long wire that goes the entire length of the system. Its typically 12-gauge. Then using these cable connectors you connect single light units, using the 16-gauge or 18-gauge slot. They’re 2-inches tall, 1.5-inches wide, and 5/8-inch thick. similar in size to a small floss container. in the video i strapped some loose wire to a connector to give a better understanding. Most of the negative reviews give a poor representation of the current product.
metal prongs bend I purchased these to replace some bad connectors on my landscape lights. Even though they look like the same kind of connector on some spotlights I recently purchased at Lowe’s, they are different. The other connectors have thumbscrews for easier access and much heavier teeth to bite into the wire. When I tried to attach this product to the power cable, the thin metal teeth would not penetrate the plastic covering on the wire. In stead, they simply bent as I screwed the cover down. I had to pierce the wire with a razor, straighten out the teeth, and carefully guide them into the holes I made to get this connector to work. Definitely not fast and convenient.
