works great not for deck posts though… I ordered these lights for my deck stairs after seeing similar ones my neighbor had…same brand different shape. Both sets (his and mine) have adequate light for their purpose. They light up otherwise very dark stairs behind the house. The light is perfect for being able to see where you are going and seeing the stairs. HOWEVER….this round model says it is for deck posts in the description but it is TOO WIDE to fit on the posts and it overhangs on each side. We even have deck posts with sleeves around them making them even wider than normal and these overhang by 1/8″ on each side. Very disappointed, looks terrible. The rectangular ones (same brand) fit perfectly. If you are mounting on a post DO NOT get these…get the rectangular ones.
SOLVED MY DARK STAIR PROBLEM! I OWN A HOME BUILT IN 1923 THAT OVERLOOKS THE PACIFIC OCEAN. RUSTING LIGHT FIXTURES AND ANY METAL TOOL LEFT OUT OVERNIGHT ARE A CONSTANT PROBLEM. THE OUTDOOR STAIRS TO OUR CELLAR WERE DARK AND DANGEROUS AND I HAD NO WAY TO GET ELECTRIC POWERED LIGHTING, REASONABLY, TO THE WALL ADJACENT THE STAIRS.WHEN I SAW THE MOONRAY SOLAR DECK LIGHTS THAT WERE MADE OUT OF HIGH INPACT PLASTIC, PRICED SO CHEAPLY, I SENT FOR 6!I INSTALLED ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE STAIR, AND THE OTHER 4 WERE USED TO REPLACE RUSTED OUT LOW VOLTAGE DECK LIGHTS ON THE RAILING OF OUR DECK THAT OVERLOOKS THE OCEAN. ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW, WOW, WOW! THEY ALL HAVE PERFORMED PERFECTLY AND SOLVED MY DARK-STAIR AND RUSTING DECK-LIGHT PROBLEM……AND NO WIRING REQUIRED!TODAY I AM ORDERING 6 MORE OF THE FLAT DESIGN TO USE AS PATHWAY LIGHTS IN MY FRONT YARD. I DEFINATELY RECCOMMEND THESE LIGHTS FOR A SIMILAR APPLICATION….JUST REMEMBER, DON’T EXPECT THESE LITTLE LIGHTS TO ACT AS “FLOODLIGHTS” AS THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR THAT USE!
not that great i bought 7 lights and only 2 worked after 2 days…all were in areas that get a lot of sun…
