Awesome garden fence I bought these fences to protect a raised garden bed. I had considered everything from ugly wire fencing, chicken-wire, etc. and had almost given up unti I came across these. I was hesitant at first as there were no reviews, but I’m glad I took the chance. They arrived in large, sturdy boxes. I wasn’t sure if they would be made of real cedar as opposed to a cheap stain on a cheap wood, as the description didn’t say, but when I opened the boxes the fragrant smell of cedar wafted through the air. The wrought iron poles that hold the sections in place are nice and heavy. The slats are stapled onto the rails, but the product did not feel flimsy. I’m sure if one desired you could reinforce them further. The wire has a nice black coating and seems sturdy enough to keep most smaller critters like rabbits and opossums out of the garden area. I’m very happy with my purchase and hope this company continues to sell this product, as it’s hard to find an attractive and effective garden fence, especially at this price!
Nice little fence for the price, very useful. I purchased several of these to enclose 4 garden beds that have herbs, flowers, some vegetables, and bushes. I wanted to keep out small animals, my smaller dogs, and keep children from walking through. They are relatively simple to install. They are not super sturdy, if you pull on them too hard or handle them roughly, the staples will come lose. That, combined with an experience I had last year (I had a similar, non screened, and smaller fence like this last year, and it literally fell apart once the dogs got tangled in it) I have chosen to reinforce all the corners with zip ties done in cross pattern. I think this will help it stay together longer and be sturdier. In comparison to small border fences I’ve tried in the past, this fence is taller = no tangling of dog tie outs. It has screens, so they can’t stick their heads through it, and it has the iron posts which secure it fairly well. I had enough left to go down one side of our small front yard (after garden beds were enclosed) and now plan on ordering another to do the other side and create a gate, thus fully enclosing our small front yard.As another purchaser mentioned, it isn’t going to hold up to a large dog or boisterous child crashing into it, but it does act as a sight deterrent for a dog and a very good fence for smaller less motivated dogs. I think the screen will keep put small pests quite well. I am very happy that I can finally enclose my small front yard for my dachshunds, allowing them the freedom to run a bit, without spending thousands of dollars on a fence installation or hundreds of dollars and days of back breaking fence post digging to install one ourselves.UPDATE Finished enclosing yard. Dogs are happy. I am happy. Product met my expectations. Added bonus, I can let my tortoise wander this summer without having that “yikes” moment when I realize I got distracted and he is on the sidewalk by the road. Boy, can he move. I have had several compliments from neighbors and our mailman on how nice it looks. I can’t wait for later this spring when things start to grow! ALSO, as side note. The pieces are not all 4′ long as the main description says. Each box has 6 pieces that are 46″ long, two that are 16″, and two that are 30″ long. I believe this is so you can make a gate as shown in the photo. For me, this meant I could do custom lengths where I needed them, sometimes combining pieces from more than one box. All in all, I spent $210 on the fence, and $72 on shipping, so for less than $300, I enclosed 4 garden beds, one blackberry bush, my front yard, and put three decorative pieces in front of three raised veggie beds on the side of my house. TIP: purchase an appropriately sized metal rod from your hardware store to make fence post holes if you have rocky soil. Your fence posts will go in much easier without bending or having to hammer on the decorative tip excessively.
