Photocell Post I installed this device, and it is working perfectly. Be aware that there is an approximate 5 minute delay response time, so don’t expect the light to come on by just covering the eye. The photocell acts instantly, but all it does is divert electrical current to a bimetal switch, which takes time to heat up and close.
Only lasted about 6 months for me it was being used on a covered, front balcony – no weather effects, just poor quality I guess. When it did work, it was very sensitive to shade. Like I mentioned, it was a covered front porch. I know that’s not ideal conditions, but gets plenty of light given that I’m in Los Angeles – Anyway, it stayed on well past 8am, even though it would have been light out for a few hours.
