Love the project I bought this gazebo in July. It took a while for me to receive it. I had a concrete slab poured in advance. After reading the instruction and inspecting the parts, I realized that the project requires high accuracy. I am a female engineer who regards herself the one of the best technicians. I decided not to hire any handyman in fear of lower quality. It took me 2 days to align the 8 poles on the concrete surface. I based my measurement on the metal thresholds. Unfortunately, the metal thresholds are slightly warped, and drilling on concrete slab added more error. After putting everything together, the diameter was 0.5″ shorter. This caused huge difficulty to the last step: fitting the top cap to the rafts. The cap couldn’t fit snugly, so I had to attach a wood stick in the center as an axle, fasten the lower end of the axle to the center of the ceiling, so that the cap won’t be blown away. I am 5’3″, to set the roof rafts at 10′ fall, I need some support in the center. I created a 8 feet stand by attaching old lamp bases to the ends of a long curtain rod; then I sit the stand on a one foot tall platform piled by bricks, fasten both ends of the rod to the surrounding poles with ropes, so that the stand can stay upright with the rafts lay on it. It took me 4 full weekends to finish the whole project. Regardless the errors and work around, the structure looks wonderful. Considering the whole month during a rain season before the project is completed, I felt extremely lucky that I ordered a vinyl gazebo instead of wood: it is lighter because it’s hollow, you don’t need to rush because it doesn’t need to be sealed, and getting wet doesn’t make it any heavier. Anyway, I like the simple but beautiful design, and think it is a very good diy project. It would give it a 5 star if the manufacturer can provide an accurate floor pattern made by stiff boards for the ease of working on concrete slab.
Excellent kit at a great price At first I wasn’t sure about a plastic gazebo but after reading the reviews and just completing the installation today I have to say it looks very nice in the yard. I placed mine on a 13.5×13.5 concrete slab. This allows just enough room to walk around the outside and will keep water running off the roof during rain from eroding the ground around it. The key to a smooth project is making sure the eight metal post, which the white posts slide over, are set accuratly. I took my time with this step an had someone to help with making the measurements. I drew a circle to act as a guide as the instructions indicated and that gave me a guide as an initial placement for the posts. Then before marking the holes to drill I measured each post again on each side. Once I had mounted the posts I measured again and all had less than 1/4 inch error. This made the rest of the assembly go very smooth. The design is well thought out with most of the peices just snapping together and a few screws here and there just to make sure things don’t move out of place. I pre-assembled all the peices myself and then had help putting up the rafters. I’d consider having two people to put up the rafters a must. I took my time with the project to make sure everyting was right. The whole project took me about 16 hours split across three weekends. I am very pleased with the results and would definatly recommend it as a do if yourself project if your at least somewhat handy with tools. It actually looks very nice and you can’t beat this gazebo for the price. As a bonus it should require very little maintance. I’ve uploaded a couple of pictures showing the final results.
nice product I have installed the gazebo on our back deck. It is a very nice finished product.Went together easily by myself, but a extra set of hands would have made itmore simple. Amazon delivery is the back of a semi so I needed to uncrate bythe road. 800# box. The screens kit help make plastic gazebo more solid. My wifeloves it, I’m a real wood person myself but there seems to be no up keep to thiswhich is good. I would recommend this product.
