great little heater Very pleased with this greenhouse heater….works just like it’s supposed to and is stable on flimsy shelves.Glad I paid just a little more for this one with temperature control. My warm weather plants and new seedlings are thriving!
Its just OK at best! We bought this heater thinking it would be a little nicer and more robust/safer than the average cheapo space heater…. given the price asked.Pro’s:It seems quite well made and is certainly attractive with its green paint…. in an old fashioned, first world war build quality, nostalgic kind of way. The interior is all galvanized and there is no plastic visible apart from the knobs. The case doesn’t get hot and the tip-over sensor and thermostat seem to function correctly.Con’s:Its quite noisy compared to most space heaters…. sounds like a lightplane taking off…. probably not important for a greenhouse or milk-house… but still noisy. Its quite large… probably close to twice the size of many similar output heaters. It has two heat setting… 1300 and 1500w. I measured them with a wattmeter and the heater does indeed draw very close to these numbers. Only issue is I cant really tell the difference in heat output… I think maybe a 750w setting would have been more practical than 1300w?The big one… I find the heat output to be poor compared to the three other make space heaters I own of the same wattage… especially considering the noise.Since buying this unit, I’ve found others that appear absolutely identical apart from the nice green paint for half the close to $70 price I paid.I don’t recommend using an extension cable with this unit… I used a 14g Rigid contractors 25′ cable with this unit and the whole cable length got quite warm after 30min or so and it also blew the LED lamp in the socket end?Summary:Nice looking, but big, noisy, not very efficient or effective and costs too much… sorry!
Didn’t last! Only used this heater for a short period. When I went to use it this fall the fan did not work, making it useless. STC will not replace.
