Easy so far! In contrast to the review from Rod Owen, I purchased the digital download from Amazon and installed the software on a laptop running an completly up to date version of Windows 7. The download and installation were flawless. Upon first launch of HDL&D 2012, a window popped up informing me of a update download. This file was from Chief Architect; the download and install was also flawless. My only advice for Rod or other users is to boot your computer into safemode with network support and try to launch the software. If that works, it’s an issue with something on your computer and not really the responsibility of the Chief Architect to resolve. In my 3 years of experience providing computer hardware/software technical support, it’s usually the users fault (i.e. having too many programs running at once, downloading/installing malware, no updates, etc).I’ll update the usability of the software once I’ve had an opportunity to work with it.Now that I’ve had an opportunity to use the software, I’ll stick with my 5 stars. The software is somewhat complex and there is a learning curve, particularly if you don’t have a flat lot. There is video and knowledge base content on the website to assist with the learning curve. You’ll get out of this software what you put in, so if you want something very detailed, be prepared to spend some time.
