Too small for 1/16 scale equipment I saw this when I was picking up parts at the local John Deere dealer and bought it for my son to use with his 1/16 farm toys. He was very disappointed that only some of his tractors and none of the implements would fit through the door. I knew that the overall size of the shed wouldn’t allow a lot of toys inside at once but I had at least figured the doors would be large enough for a tractor with a cab and pulling a round baler to drive in and out. We ended up making him a better shed and getting rid of this one. We are a farm family so maybe he is more demanding with what he expects of his farm toys compared to the average kid.
Nice, basic barn, good quality I like the barn, quality is good. It looks pretty cute and was easy to put together with a screw gun. My son is 2, so still a bit young for it, but he loves tractors and the added bonus is that I can store his tractors in there to keep things neat in his room! I would change a few things about it if I was the manufacturer, like the other poster said, the doors are a bit short in height, we measured and it is 7X7 inches. Also, he can’t “drive”. his tractors into the barn due to the fact that the door is framed for sliding to the side, it would have been better to include ramps or not frame the bottom of the doors, instead use hinges or whatever. A bit steep in price for something relatively basic.
I bought this for my 8 yr old son who saw a program on Animal Planet where a man and his wife operate an elephant sanctuary. They had a building very much like this toy where the elephants were kept. My son loved the idea of having a building for his wild animals and asked for this specific one to go with the big red barn he got the previous Christmas.My stepdad assembled this in under 20 minutes (he did not cuss or complain so I assume it was fairly easy)on Christmas Eve.My guy plays with this everyday and loves it.It is a great toy and will be put up for future use as soon as he outgrows it because it is truly an heirloom piece.My son loves the hinged roof for easy access. Today it was a barn for tractors and farm equipment, tomorrow it might be the scene of an epic battle between ranchers and Native Americans,or an animal sanctuary or a place where his Chiweenie can be a mutant 50 foot dog.This is a great imagination toy and has brought many happy hours of play.
